Jara Nassar is a playwright, poet, performer and journalist. Her work is interested in the violence that divides people, and the power that brings them back together.
Jara writes theater plays, poetry, essays and short stories in English and German, interwoven with Levantine Arabic. Her first play Baba Dein Herz (Baba Your Heart/قلبك يا بابا) tells the stories of four women whose fathers have been locked in and out of their lives. Performed in German, Arabic, and English, it debuted in BRUX Freies Theater Innsbruck in 2025.
Jara is the co-host of the monthly radio show Radio Against Repression, the radio hour ans podcast that explores relationships between censorship, defunding and repression. Broadcast live out of Berlin on 88.4 FM monthly.
Jara firmly believes in the revolutionary potential of theater, a belief that she keeps alive with her repeated work in Lebanon and Palestine.
